Who We Are

ProjectCSGIRLS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to cultivate a love for technology and computer science in girls and encourage them to pursue their interests and careers in these fields. We believe that nurturing an interest in science, math, and technology during the critical middle school period will help them to better see themselves as the future leaders of tomorrow. We aim to do this through a unique idea - the nation's largest computer science competition for middle school girls. ProjectCSGIRLS is run by high school and college students from around the country who are incredibly passionate about computer science and technology. Simply put, we are here to drive change.

It is no exaggeration to say that ProjectCSGIRLS was transformative for me. Not only did it provide me with an opportunity to make a change in the world, but it also gave me the chance to grow and learn about myself. After participating, I am energized and eager to continue to expand my programming skills.”

A Look Into How We're Redefining the Future of Technology

Our Programs

Our three core programs are as follows. All three of our programs are centered on the concept of tech plus social good, and aspire to teach middle school girls how to use technology to challenge and address relevant social issues. We're building an international community of changemakers and future technology leaders.

  1. Our trademark national competition designed to challenge middle school girls to actively use computer science and technology to develop a solution to an imminent social problem. The ProjectCSGIRLS Competition for Middle School Girls is the nation's oldest and largest computer science competition for middle school girls. Learn more about how to participate here.

  2. Our open-ended technology workshops held around the country to help introduce middle school girls to different computer science topics and help participants prepare for the competition. Each workshop is different and is run by members of our team. These workshops are designed to not only provide the girls with a basic introduction to a range of computer science applications, but to also give them space to be creative and innovative and work on projects of their own choosing. Learn more about upcoming workshops here.

  3. Our national and international chapters run by high school and college students on their campuses, in local libraries, and in community centers. ProjectCSGIRLS chapters host a wide range of events for their local communities. Find a chapter or learn how to start one yourself.
